Arrowtown

A town born of gold, nestled at the foot of the mountains of western Otago, Arrowtown has retained much of its goldfields character, with historic buildings and goldmining sites. It is also a picturesque place and a popular holiday destination. The essence of the town has been captured in Arrowtown: History and Walks, by Julia Bradshaw.

The book serves as a guide to the area and as an attractive souvenir. It describes local natural history, the geology that gave rise to the gold and scheelite mining industries, and outlines the town’s history. Two chapters are devoted to detailed descriptions of walks around Arrowtown’s historic buildings and in the tussock-covered hills and gullies north of the town. The book is illustrated with numerous historical and contemporary photographs. Maps are included.
